Thu 26 January, 6 p.m.: The Life and Work of Architect Rudolf Wels (1882-1944)
Rudolf Wels was a pupil of Prof. Friedrich Ohmann at the Vienna Academy and of the world-renowned architect Adolf Loos. Wels designed a number of major buildings in the Sokolov and Karlovy Vary regions, and later worked in Prague. He perished with his wife in Auschwitz. One of the major architects of the 20th century, Wels was also a set designer for the films of Voskovec and Werich and wrote a commentary on his father’s memoirs (published as “U Bernátů”).

Thu 23 February, 6 p.m.: Ernst Mühlstein a Victor Fürth - lecture on the designers of many important buildings in the centre of Prague, department stores, apartment buildings and villas who were among the leading representatives of Czech avant-garde architecture.
