As of 11 December 2001, a restitution claim was made
regarding two oil paintings from the Museum’s collection –portraits
believed to be of Mr. and Mrs. Ascher by the Viennese painter Karel
Vogl. These works were confiscated during the Nazi occupation from the
collection of Dr. Emanuel Herrmann, who was deported from Prague to
Terezína on transport Di on 13 July 1943.

Pursuant to the terms for the assertion of restitution claims with respect
to objects in the collections of the Jewish Museum in Prague which were
unlawfully taken during the period of Nazi suppression (further details
on the Museum’s website), there is a time limit of one year from the
above date (when the application was filed) for the filing of subsequent
claims regarding the works in question
