Concert on International Day of Commemoration to Honour the Victims of the Holocaust January 27 2008 at 6 p.m.
On the occasion of January 27, the day of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp in 1945, which was designated by the resolution of the UN General Assembly as the International Day of commemoration to honour Holocaust victims (International Holocaust Remembrance Day) and which is commemorated in the Czech Republic as a significant day, the Education and Culture Centre of the Jewish Museum in Prague has prepared the following events: II. Friday, January 26, 2007, 10 a.m.: Opening ceremony of the exhibition Don’t Lose Faith in Mankind... The Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia through the Eyes of Jewish Children at the Grammar School of Jiří Orten in Kutná Hora III. The exhibition Neighbours Who Disappeared will take place at the following venues: Grammar School Praha 10 IV. Campaign on education against racism and xenophobia: The campaign of the Education and Culture Centre of the Jewish Museum in Prague will take place between January 15 and February 11 on the citylights in Prague. V. Educational programmes: Between January 28 and February 8, the UN Information Centre in cooperation with the Education and Culture Centre of the Jewish Museum in Prague prepared educational programmes Hana’s Suitcase, The Holocaust in Documents and Discussion with the Holocaust Survivors for students. This way, the Czech branch of the UN joins the Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Day of Prevention of crimes against humanity. |
