The Terezin Initiative Institute and the Foundation for Holocaust Victims will jointly hold a commemoration event on the occasion of Yom Hashoa – Holocaust Victims Remebrance Day according to the Jewish calendar.
On 21st of April, from 2 – 5 p.m., in Náměstí Míru, Prague, we will read the names of the victims of Shoah. Join us and honour the memory of those who were persecuted because of their Jewish origins, imprisoned and murdered during World War II.
On the Day of the Holocaust and Heroism, in Hebrew “Jom HaShoa ve Hagvurah“, the six million murdered Jews and the Jewish heroes fighting against the Nazis are remembered in memorial. It commemorates the start of the 1943 Warsaw ghetto uprising.
This event will be dedicated to those who provided photographs and materials from their private collections for the Database of victims, the on-line source of information and authenticated materials on Czech and European Holocaust victims.
For the participants, there will be prepared information materials and a range of books on display.
The memorial is held under the auspices of the Mayor of the capitol Prague, Pavel Bém.
Partners of the projects are the Czech Union of Jewish Youth, the Jewish Museum in Prague and the Lauder Schools.
With the media support of Hospodářské noviny and Radio1.
