Prague

09. 05. 2016 18:00

Auditorium of the Jewish Museum’s Department for education
and culture, Maiselova 15, Prague 1

A lecture by the Dutch researcher Emmy van Swaaij, who over the last few years has focused on an intensive study of the work of the German-language Jewish writer, journalist and music critic Oskar Baum – a close friend of Franz Kafka and Max Brod. Baum was a highly prolific writer and journalist, despite being blind. In addition to his published works, however, there is also a collection of texts that he wrote in Braille. This collection was donated to the Jewish Museum in Prague last year. The lecture will focus on the content of Baum's works in Braille, which are hard to access for the majority of those interested in his oeuvre and in the intellectual life of the famous Prague Circle. In English. Free admission.
