ARTHUR ROTHSTEIN: 20th Century Picture Stories

Prague

12. 05. 2016 18:00

Auditorium of the Jewish Museum’s Department for education
and culture, Maiselova 15, Prague 1

A lecture by Ann Rothstein-Segan, which will explore in detail the 50-year career of her father – the famous American photographer Arthur Rothstein (1915–1985). During his career, he produced a large number of iconic photographs that document a broad period of American history – from the worldwide economic crisis of the 1930s through to the Reagan administration of the 1980s. The lecture will also focus on a remarkable train of events during which Rothstein took, lost and rediscovered a unique series of photographs that depict the everyday life of Jewish refugees in Shanghai immediately after the Second World War. The lecture is being held as part of a programme accompanying the exhibition Stranded in Shanghai, which will be on display at the Jewish Museum's Robert Guttmann Gallery from May until September. In English. Free admission.
