The Ančerl Quartet

A concert for the 110th anniversary of the birth of Karel Ančerl (1908–1973) – the distinguished conductor of the Czech Philharmonic – performed by one of the leading Czech string quartets. Featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791), Viktor Ullmann (1898–1944) and Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904). Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Maisel Synagogue and at the Jewish Museum's Information and Reservation Centre (Maiselova 15, Prague 1), or through the Ticket Art network, Prague Ticket Office (online or at its shop in the Old Town Square) and the Jewish Museum's website, where you can also view the full concert programme. Concerts in the Maisel Synagogue are held with the support of the City of Prague.

The Ančerl Quartet was founded ten years ago at the Prague Conservatory. The members continued their studies under the tutelage of Jiří Panocha at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts. The quartet frequently gives concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad. It has performed in Monza, Italy (November 2009), at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (March 2010), and at the Headquarters of UNESCO in Paris (June 2011). In January 2014, it premiered the string quartets of the Czech composer Pavel Stádník at a concert of contemporary music in Regensburg, Germany.
