A concert featuring cello and accordion compositions with Hebrew motifs, performed by the leading Czech cellist Dominika Weiss Hošková and the acclaimed accordionist Jana Bezpalcová. Dominika Weiss Hošková received her first cello lessons at the age of four from her father, the cellist Jiří Hošek. After studying with Prof. Václav Jírovec and Prof. Vladan Kočí at the Prague Conservatory and taking additional private lessons with Professor Miloš Sádlo, she attended the Faculty of Music at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts. In 2007, she completed a master’s degree course under Assoc. Prof. Jiří Hošek. She continued her education at the Jerusalem Academy of Music (cello with Prof. Zvi Plesser, chamber music with Prof. Avi Abramovic). She has received many awards in the Czech Republic and abroad, including the 2009 Grand Prize in the David Gritz Memorial Competition. In June 2010, her work was honoured by the Czech Senate with a Silver Medal for promoting the Czech Republic’s good name and traditions in the State of Israel. Based on the anonymous appraisal of music recordings, Dominika Hošková was selected among the candidates to take part in the 2000 Prague Spring International Cello Competition, becoming the youngest Czech participant in this competition. She has taken part in various music festivals at home and abroad.
 
Jana Bezpalcová received her first accordion lessons at the age of six. From 1993 to 1999, she attended the class of Prof. Alena Pustějovská at the České Budějovice Conservatory. In 1998, she commenced her studies with Prof. Lubomír Žovic and Assoc. Prof. Rajmund Kákoni at the Bratislava Academy of Performing Arts. She continued her studies with Prof. Ivan Koval at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar (University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar). Under the guidance of Prof. Ivan Koval, she also completed a four-semester postgraduate course, the Konzertexamen, which is the highest degree for music performance in Germany. During her studies, she successfully took part in many accordion competitions in the Czech Republic (Pardubice 1995 – 2nd Prize, Hořovice 1997 – 1st Prize) and was successful in international competitions (Andorra 1997 – 3rd Prize; Recoaro Terme, Italy 1998; Nijmegen, Netherlands 1998; Orense, Spain 1999; Hamburg, Germany 2005). In 2001, she performed as soloist with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava. She has frequently contributed to music projects for the Stiftung Weimarer Klassik (Weimar Classical Foundation) and has given first performances of new works written by students of classical music composition at the Institute for New Music at the Hochschule für Musik, Weimar (University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar). Jana Bezpalcová has continued to give regular concerts in Czech Republic and Germany, as well as at other European venues. She has performed in Austria, Croatia and Lebanon. She has also been involved in various musical theatre productions, as well as in projects outside the bounds of classical music.
