The launch of the Domenica String Trio was closely connected to the activities of the Czech Baroque Trio. Both ensembles were founded by Antonín Rous, a Dutch violinist of Czech origin, who has been active in Amsterdam since 1971. The two ensembles sometimes merge into a single group. The Domenica String Trio became fully independent in 2018, since when it has performed at international festivals in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and the Czech Republic. In the autumn of 2019, for example, it performed at the Mahler Jihlava Festival. The trio focuses on a classical repertoire in combination with less frequently performed 20th-century compositions.
