Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet

The concert of the Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet, the leading local performers, will feature the overture to the opera The Magic Flute by W. A. Mozart (1756-1791), a selection of works by Darius Milhaud (1892-1974) and also by Pavel Haas (1899-1944). Tickets can be purchased at the Museum's Information and Reservation Centre (Maiselova 15, Prague 1), at the Prague Ticket Office - Via Musica and on the website of the Jewish Museum in Prague. The concert is held with the financial support of the MHMP.

The Prague Philharmonia Wind Quintet was founded in 2007 on the initiative of soloists of the wind section of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia Orchestra. Members of the ensemble are laureates of national and international performance competitions.  They are also members of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech Sinfonietta, the National Theatre, the Baborák Ensemble etc.).
The quintet has entered the musical consciousness not only by regular concerts on Czech concert stages, but also by recording compositions by 20th century Czech composers for Czech Radio and by cooperating with Czech Television. In 2011 and 2013, the quintet was invited to the international music festival "Festival dell Arte" in Wojanow, Poland, where it represented the Czech music scene to great acclaim.
Since its inception, the ensemble has established a close cooperation with the excellent pianist prof. Ivan Klánský, and together they have performed at many concerts for Czech and foreign organizers.
In autumn 2015 the ensemble completed a successful tour of Spain (Burgos, Mellila, Miranda de Ebro).
In 2016, a combined project of French poetry and music with the outstanding Czech actor Jan Čensky was met with great acclaim.
In the 2016/17 concert season, in addition to its regular performance in the chamber cycle of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia, the quintet also presented itself to the audience with a concert at the Prague Spring International Music Festival or at the For the Treasures of Broumov Region festival.
In the 2018/19 season, the quintet gave concerts at the Atrium Žižkov and Karolinum. In the spring it was a concert at the Břevnov Music Festival, outside of Prague you could listen to the quintet in Poděbrady, Řevnice, Kolín, Písek, Strakonice, Netolice, Jablonec or Brandýs nad Labem. In the past years, the ensemble enjoyed participation in the IMF in Český Krumlov, the Vrchlabské hudební léto festival, the festival in Polička, the Smetana Days in Pilsen, the Skuteč festival etc.
