Lulav holder

The date-palm frond (Heb. lulav), together with myrtle branches (Heb. hadasim), willow branches (Heb. aravot) and etrog – collectively known as the “four species” (Heb. arba’ah minim) – is used in a ritual during the holiday of Sukkot. Bound together at the bottom with the branches, the lulav is placed in a holder made from date-palm leaves and is held in the right hand during the blessing. It is rarely made from other material, but metal is sometimes used. Its length is usually about 20 centimetres.
