Seder bowl

A bowl used at the ritual meal during the holiday of Pesah. Traditionally, various kinds of ritual foods are placed on the bowl in a certain order. The use of ordinary tin plates of large size with an engraved inscription and ornamentation relating to the meal on the edge was very popular. The end of the 19th century saw the first mass production of circular and rectangular porcelain Seder bowls; these have shallow, inscribed compartments for the individual kinds of food. In addition to these materials, other metals and ceramics were used.
