Wedding ring

A ring used solely in the wedding ceremony, hence not intended for daily use. Usually, it is owned by the synagogue. Larger than an ordinary ring, it appears in two versions: a simple band decorated in filigree and a type with architectural motifs in the form of a house with highlighted details. The Hebrew inscription Mazal Tov (Good Luck) is engraved on the inner or outer sides of each type of ring. Wedding rings are usually made of silver, less frequently of gold. The inner diameter is usually around 3 centimetres.
