The Jewish Museum in Prague unveils a new visual identity

November 26, 2025 - The Jewish Museum in Prague unveils the first gift for its upcoming 120th anniversary celebrations: a new visual identity and logo created by Klára Kvízová Graphics. The museum is gradually implementing this identity across all communication materials. The design emerged from an open competition organized in collaboration with Czechdesign, offering a modern, clear, and visually strong presentation that respects the historical context of the Jewish community in the Czech lands.

The new identity draws inspiration from the spiritual atmosphere, color palette, and architectural elements of the museum’s buildings. These motifs create a visual language that connects tradition with a contemporary approach to presenting a cultural institution in the digital age.

39 designers and studios applied to the open call, with five teams invited to submit proposals:

The jury—three design experts (Markéta Steinert, Roman Černohous, Tomáš Kostkan) and two museum representatives (Pavla Niklová, Martina Kemrová)—ultimately selected Klára Kvízová Graphics.

“The decision was far from easy; each participant approached the brief in an original and respectful way,” says museum director Pavla Niklová.

The foundation of the new identity is the Ease Display typeface by Swiss studio Feixen, combining geometric precision with softness and humanity.
A standout feature is the letter “m”, whose double arch symbolically refers to the Ten Commandments—becoming a key symbol of the entire identity.

The visual system also includes graphic elements inspired by window arches, vaults, and niches of synagogues and historic buildings.
The color palette reflects the atmosphere of Jewish culture set in Prague’s historic center—subtle, vibrant, and practical.
